Introducing the all NEW – Open Mic Nights!
After a very successful OPEN MIC NIGHT last wednesday night I’d like
to encourage anyone and everyone to band together (no pun intended) and
get an act ready for the next one which will take place on Wednesday 15th September.
So have a think…could you sing a duet with someone…your wife maybe? Could
you find a piano player, guitar player or even a whole band to learn a song and
perform it…have a look at who i sent an email to on this list, and if you can
get in contact with someone to help with your act then do so. I’d especially
encourage people to perform in groups.
YOU MUST REGISTER or there is no guaruntee of getting a spot. You can be
involved in more than one act or register to perform more than one song yourself, but
depending on numbers you may be forced to choose which you’d like to perform
more. Registration is below so please fill in the form on this email and reply to
me.
Get there at 7pm to set up a table and your wine and cheese and we will also
need some time to organise performers with guitars/drums/mics etc.
The first act will commence at 7.30pm SHARP.
SORT YOURSELF OUT…don’t miss out on a great chance to perform. Or even just
to have a night of entertainment.
Ben

The idea is to offer performance opportunities and experience to those wanting
to share their musical talent. Anyone is welcome to perform but all are encouraged
to perform.
Examples of an act might include…
- Performing a song with guitar and voice
- Performing a song with a band
- Performing a song with a backing track
- Performing a solo instrumental piece (maybe on trumpet, sax, violin, piano etc.)
- Performing a cappella
- Performing an original composition
- I’ll even allow for one dance act if people want to.
These are just some suggestions which may trigger an idea. What I want to encourage
the most is that you get together with fellow musicians and perform together. There are
many talented guitarists, pianists, instrumentalists and vocalists within the parish. So
if there’s a song you want to do….find people to do it with you…and if you don’t know
where to look or who to ask…I can point you in the right direction.
I can also help you find music on the internet or if you’re struggling to get something together.
